Fairview United Methodist Church

Pastor Duane Corle

Welcome to Fairview UMC’s website! My name is
Rev. Duane Corle. I am the new pastor of Fairview UMC and I am sooo excited to be joining this beautiful faith community in the ministry that God is and has been fostering and forming in Thomasville, NC. I am honored and humbled to be following and serving alongside all those who have ministered in this community prior to my arrival. Fairview UMC impresses me as a church oriented around Heritage and Hope and I look forward to what God is doing anew with all who gather to be Christ’s disciples.

A little information about me. I am starting my tenth year of pastoral ministry. I have served a multi-point charge, four churches at once in the Franklin, NC area. My previous appointment was in the Weaverville area, just north of Asheville, NC.

Prior to pastoral ministry I was employed by JCPenney. I was a management associate during my career in three Triad area stores, so I am not unfamiliar to this community.

I like to read, run, and play tennis. I also have a mountain bike, that is not used often enough, and I have recently enjoyed rafting. I like watching most any sporting event. And I am blessed to be considered God’s servant and friend.

I am married to a lovely and wonderful woman, Elizabeth, whom I met while living in Greensboro in the early 1990s. She has been my rock and ministry partner for over two decades. We have two exceptional daughters, Caitlin and Christina, both of whom are grown and are making their own ways in God’s creation.

We are so blessed to have come home to the Piedmont/Triad area. It is where we first began our family and where we now look forward to expanding our family connections with the people of Fairview and those in its surrounding communities.

During my first few weeks, it has also been an honor to engage with Pilot Point ministry of Fairview UMC, a summer literacy initiative of The Duke Endowment. In that initiative we partner with multiple community volunteers, churches, and organizations within Davidson County to improve the literacy and lives of children in our community. The ministry that it affords for and with the children of this community, and the church as its host, is immeasurable. Beyond this ministry, I am looking forward to discovering the many other discipleship opportunities that Fairview UMC has to offer.

Finally, if you are reading this on our website, then I hope that we can come alongside you as you navigate the many experiences that you may encounter in your daily walk with the Lord.

I cannot wait to meet you. To hear your stories, your struggles, your joys, your ministries, and your passion for God. To hear how God has authored your life and drawn you into deeper love and care for your neighbors as we seek to Love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds.

In joyful anticipation, Pastor Duane Corle
